Join me next week Sunday, November 5th for a very special Celebration of Life for my dear friend and Hawaii's Republican Lone Ranger, Sam Slom.
Senator Slom served 20 years in the Hawaii State Senate representing his beloved East Honolulu, comprising Hawaii Kai, Aina Haina, Kahala and Diamond Head.
For much of his service, he was the lone Republican member in the Senate, though he was the voice for hundreds of thousands in our state who shared his beliefs.
The following from his 2009 Opening Day speech is just one of the many inspiring notions, Sam, a gifted orator and visionary thinker, imparted upon us: "As Edward Everett Hale said more than 200 years ago, “I am only one, but still I am one. I can’t do everything, yet I can do something. And just because I can’t do everything, I won’t refuse to do the something I can do.”
Join us as we reminisce and remember Senator Sam Slom, a giant in Hawaii politics and a giant among men.
