Hello New Hope hikers!!!

Take a break from your Christmas shopping and burn off some of those excess Thanksgiving calories.

Join us for a hike to the Kaena Point Natural Area Reserve (a remote and scenic protected area harboring some of the last vestiges of coastal sand dune habitat on the island, and home to native plants and seabirds), as well as the fellowship and to burn off some of those extra calories from your succulent Thanksgiving meal.

Kaena Point Hike (from the west side) - Saturday, November 29th at 9:00 am.

Location: Meet in the dirt parking lot in front of the Satellite Station guard shack before Yokohama Beach
Length: 5 miles round trip
Type: Partly paved/dirt road
Terrain: Open coastline
Skill level: Between Novice and Intermediate
Special Instructions: We will be out in the open the entire time. Bring sunscreen and protect yourself from the sun! Wear covered shoes. Wear a bathing suit under your clothes just in case you decide to swim in one of the tide pools. Bring an ample amount of water and lunch/snacks. Sorry dogs are not allowed on this hike. There is a restroom along the way to the trailhead.
http://dlnr.hawaii.gov/dsp/hiking/oahu/kaena-point-trail/

Driving directions: Take H-1 freeway going west towards Nanakuli. The freeway quickly ends and turns into Farrington Highway. Continue on this road passing through Nanakuli, Ma'ili, Wai'anae and Makaha. Continue until you see a guard station on the right. The parking space is limited, so let us know if you need a ride or can provide one!

Note: We have a back-up hike planned in case the Kaena Point trail is closed due to high surf. We will notify you via FB or email if the trail is still closed a day before our hike so stay tuned!
