PAU Violence Program

PAU Violence Program Prevention, Awareness & Understanding (PAU) Violence Program Program Goals
1.

When working with students and the campus community, the program endeavors to create an environment that is welcoming and safe, where people of all identities and experiences feel validated and supported.
2. We strive to ensure that we provide a wide range of resources and referrals that assists students in making informed decisions that are in line with personal well-being and academic success.

3. The program uses innovative practices and culturally appropriate approaches to engage the campus community on multiple levels to understand s*x assualt, domestic and dating violence, and stalking.
4. Using experiences, education and knowledge, we challenge our campus and students to be role models in ending interpersonal violence.

April is S*xual Assault Awareness Month, otherwise known as SAAM. It is a time to focus the attention to the prevalence of s*xual assault and educate communities, individuals and relatives about how to prevent it. SAAM campaigns to honor the voices and experiences of victims and survivors. Chances are someone in your life is a survivor of s*xual harassment, assault, or abuse, even if they have never shared their story with you. There will be many ways to show your support for survivors this month. Be on the look out for various events coming up on April 6th and 14th!

Queen Kapiolani was Hawaii's Queen from 1874 to 1891 and was married to King Kalakaua. She was a woman who was mostly known for her philanthropy and was deeply committed to the health, education, and well-being of the Hawaiian people.
“Indeed our time is limited upon this sacred land. I pray that our people may remember me not so much as their aliÊ»i Ê»ai moku (queen or high chiefess) but as their dedicated sister and true friend for aloha (love) is more profound than any title or position one may be elevated to
Strive for the highest in all matters you undertake and always with humility and with the intention of exalting our country
” - Queen KapiÊ»olani
