To address the urgent needs arising from the recent Lahaina wildfire, Speaker has initiated six House interim working groups. Terez and I serve as co-chairs of one such working group, named the Food, Water, & Other Supplies Working Group. Our team includes , , Rose Martinez, Richard Onishi, , and .

Our primary focus is to assess the availability and distribution of essential supplies like food and water for displaced families and individuals. We aim to offer recommendations for legislative action in the upcoming 2024 legislative session.

We are collaborating closely with federal, state, and county agencies, as well as House subject matter chairs, committee members, community members, and other stakeholders.

Please mark your calendars for November 1, 2023, when we will release our draft report. We also plan to hold a public hearing to gather feedback on the report. A final report will be made available to the public on December 15, 2023.

📚 One of my top priorities is to support our public education system. This year, I secured money to budget for Capital Improvement Projects for schools in House District 40.

Ofelia Reed, Principal Iroquois Point Elementary. Rose got Iroquois $750,000 for safety fence replacement and sewer repair/upgrades

Dr. Corey Barton, Principal Pohakea Elementary. Rose got Pohakea $202k for Exit Driveway widening

John Henry Lee. Principal James Campbell High School. Rose got James Campbell HS $2million for Phase 2 construction

💐Joined the 25th Annual Easter Basket Drive hosted by the bi-partisan Hawaii Women’s Legislative Caucus (). Assembled Easter baskets with new household and hygiene items will be donated to participating organizations that include the Domestic Violence Action Center, Institute for Human Services, Parents & Children Together, The Salvation Army Hawaii, and Mohala Mai Women's Prison Project.
