Maui Residents: Drive-through COVID-19 testing are available at the following locations:

‍ - KAHULUI: 348 Lehuakona St. (behind Maui Marketplace) |
Tuesdays & Saturdays, 8am-2pm

Must pre-register to be tested, please visit https://www.minitmed.com/pre-register-maui-covid-19.

Participants are asked to come to the test site at their designated time. Patients do not need insurance or meet any criteria to be tested for free. Participants must wear a face mask, and they are urged to come at their scheduled time. Results will be reported on the same day as testing. Minit Medical is administering the program sponsored by the County of Maui. If you have any problem pre-registering, please call (808) 667-6161 ext: 7, for help and more information.

Kamuela, Hawai'i Island: Help your community and get vaccinated! Walk-ins for the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson will be given this Saturday, July 3rd from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at Kamuela Hongwanji Mission (Waimea Church Row, 65-1110 Mamalahoa Hwy) to get your vaccination. All residents 18+ are eligible for the FREE vaccine.

Each vaccine recipient can enter to win a Gran Prize drawing. The winner will be contacted on Tuesday, July 6.

Hawai'i State Senate: BILL TO INCREASE PENALTIES FOR CRIMES AGAINST SENIORS SIGNED INTO LAW

“We have seen way too many crimes against our kupuna who are vulnerable to assault, theft and financial abuse,” said Senator Sharon Y. Moriwaki (Senate District 12 - Waikīkī, Ala Moana, Kaka‘ako, McCully, Mō‘ili‘ili), co-convener of the Senate Kūpuna Caucus. “This bill will protect them by enhancing penalties for these crimes against our elders.”

HB 490 will enhance safeguards for kūpuna by proposing an increase in penalties for intentional crimes against seniors 60 years of age and above, including intentional bodily injury, unauthorized entry into a dwelling, theft, or forgery.

Hawaii DLNR (Department of Land and Natural Resources) News Release: One of Hawaiʻi’s most popular trails will be reopening soon, just in time for National Trails Day. The DLNR Nā Ala Hele Trail and Access Program, part of the Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) will reopen the Mānoa Falls Trail on June 5, 2021. The popular trail was originally closed in July 2019 for the installation of a rockfall hazard mitigation fence next to the falls. With the trail closed for the fence installation, Nā Ala Hele also installed some long overdue trail safety improvements.

The Hawaii State Department of Health announced that the state is expanding the pool of those eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations by offering vaccinations to people age 70 and older beginning today, Monday, March 8, 2021.
“We are excited to be ahead of schedule and pleased that we can now provide another layer of protection to this vulnerable population,” said State Health Director Dr. Elizabeth Char.
“We must still wait our turn as our elders and frontline essential workers continue to be vaccinated, but we are thrilled others in our community will soon have access to these life-saving vaccines,” Char concluded. Read more here: https://bit.ly/3sZDhWJ
