Meet the the Mid: Athletic & Scholarships MIDN 1/C Tommy Tereschuk
Meet the Mid is an exciting feature in Daily Shipmate that spotlights the journeys of our Athletic and Scholarship Programs (A&SP) students at the Naval Academy. Each story shares a glimpse into their experiences, growth and aspirations, highlighting how opportunity, preparation and perseverance shape the next generation of leaders for the Navy Fleet and Marine Corps.

Tommy Tereschuk is from Kailua, HI, and is assigned as a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO). He is most proud of representing his family and hometown at the Naval Academy. His favorite memory was a spring break backpacking trip with the Travis Manion Foundation during his 3/C year, where he connected with veterans and fellow Midshipmen and was inspired by their stories and perspectives. He credits A&SP with giving him the opportunity to attend the Naval Academy and shaping the person he is today through the people he met. Tereschuk's advice to incoming plebes is to fully embrace their time at the Academy by exploring new places, building strong bonds and making the most of every opportunity, because the four years pass quickly and are truly invaluable.

Aloha Hawaiʻi USNA golfers - here is the latest information on our upcoming "fields of friendly strife" golf matches:
Army vs Air Force on Saturday, November 1 at Hickam Mamala Bay with tee times starting at 0730.
Army vs Navy on Friday, December 12 at Kaneohe Klipper tee times starting at 1100.
If you know of other grads who might be interested in playing, please pass this email on to them and have them contact Bruce - [email protected]. This is especially important for active duty who may be newly assigned.
The matches are open to Academy alumni and spouses are welcome to play Spouses scores can be counted or not based on their preference.

Admiral Alma Grocki (Ret)
WWII 80th Anniversary
Alma M. Grocki is a retired United States Navy Two star rear admiral. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1981, she served in a succession of warship and submarine maintenance postings before transferring to the United States Navy Reserve in 1988. Grocki commanded various U.S. Navy facilities, shipyards and programs before becoming director of fleet maintenance for the United States Pacific Fleet and deputy commander of Naval Sea Systems Command.

Grocki joined the United States Naval Academy's second class of women in 1977 and was the first woman from Hawaii to enter the academy, and the first female admiral from the state

Since retiring in 2016 she has been very active in retirement, serving on the boards of Pacific Historic Parks, The Battleship Missouri, and Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. As well numerous other military related volunteer roles.

We welcome walk-ins and know some of you don't know if you can make it until the last minute. Please join us! Registration closes 24 hours prior to the event. Walk-in rate is $55.
