Good morning Benzie County!

Fahrner will be fog sealing Maple Street in the Village of Lake Ann this morning. Please expect flaggers, one-lane traffic, and possible delays while the work is underway.

We also have a crew with the Maxx patcher working on Pioneer Road, another crew repairing a spillway that washed out along US-31, two graders out maintaining our gravel roads, and both mowing crews out working on the second round of roadside mowing.

As a reminder, our first mowing includes the primary roads and state highways. The second mowing includes all roads, MDOT routes, primary roads, and local roads.

As always, please slow down and use caution around our crews and equipment.

Stay safe!

Good morning, Benzie County!

Our mowing crews are back out making their rounds throughout the county, while a small crew is working on placing topsoil behind the raised edge of Eden Hill Road.

Our parks employee is also out maintaining the MDOT roadside parks, and another small crew is continuing work at the new Road Commission facility site.

Fahrner will be starting fog sealing on Reynolds Road around noon today. They will most likely move to Maple Street in the Village of Lake Ann first thing tomorrow morning.

If you're traveling in these areas, please expect flaggers, one-lane traffic, and possible delays. Please slow down and give the crews plenty of room to work safely.

Thank you, Benzie County, and have a great day!

Good afternoon, Benzie County!

Our crews are busy across the county today.

We have graders and trucks out maintaining our gravel roads, our parks employee is taking care of the MDOT roadside parks, and a pothole patcher is out making repairs throughout the county.

Both mowers are back out for their second round of roadside mowing.

Fahrner has also officially started fog sealing our chipseal roads. South Shore Drive was completed this morning, and they are currently working on Grace Road.

If you're traveling through these areas, please be prepared for flaggers, reduced speeds, and one-lane traffic while the fog sealing work is underway.

As always, please slow down, stay alert, and give our crews and contractors plenty of room to work safely.

Thank you, Benzie County!

Good afternoon,

Our crews will be completing our remaining obligations on the Pioneer Road project today. Elmer's is scheduled to move in sometime in mid-September to pave the section from Goose Road to Homestead Road. Once that work is complete, Pioneer Road will be ready to transition to an all-season route for the spring.

Our fog sealing was pushed back today due to the weather, but we are anticipating Fahrner will begin tomorrow, weather permitting.

PK Contracting will also be back later this summer to complete pavement markings on all of our project roads.

And finally, here's a little something fun for everyone! We captured some video from our truck-mounted camera during the Coho Festival Parade over the weekend. Check it out!

Thank you, Benzie County, and have a great day!

Good afternoon, Benzie County!

Out of all the comfy beds we set up around here for him..... anyway,

It's been a busy morning!

Our chipseal work has officially been completed. Fahrner will be back tomorrow, weather permitting, to begin the fog sealing process. They expect to have the remaining work wrapped up by next week.

We are also finishing up our work on Pioneer Road. Elmer's will be here next month to pave the shoulders and complete the final overlay. Once that work is finished, we will be able to transition Pioneer Road to an all-season route for the spring.

It's been a busy construction season, and we're excited to see these projects coming together.

As always, please slow down around our crews and contractors and give them plenty of room to work safely.

Thank you for your patience and support, Benzie County!

Good Morning!!

It's been a busy day across the county!

Our crews have been working hard on Pioneer Road as we finish up the project. The road will be down to one lane while crews complete the remaining work, so please slow down and follow the temporary traffic control.

Fahrner is also out sweeping the recently chipsealed roads and cleaning up excess aggregate.

They are finishing up Lake Ann Road today, and they are also re-chipping Maple Street, heading east up the big hill. Traffic has worked the surface pretty hard in that area, so Fahrner is going back over it to make sure we get the proper coverage and finish.

Fog sealing is scheduled to begin Wednesday, weather permitting. This will be the final step in the chipseal process and will help lock in the aggregate and provide a finished surface.

Lots of moving parts and plenty of equipment out today!

Please slow down, stay alert, and give our crews and contractors plenty of room to work safely.

Busy, busy day!

Thank you, Benzie County!

Fahrner has completed Maple St. in the village of Lake Ann, and is now working on Reynolds rd. North of the village. They will be back Monday next week to sweep and sometime next week they will be applying the fog seal. Please slow down through these areas due to workers loose stone. Also Lake Ann rd. from Maple Street to Cedar Run will be completed early next week. Thanks everyone!

Fahrner Chipsealing Southshore Dr.

08/20/2026

Good morning, Benzie County!

Fahrner is continuing our chipseal program this morning on South Shore Drive before moving on to Deadstream Road.

If you live along either of these roads, please remember to shut off your sprinklers while the chipseal work is taking place. The emulsion needs time to properly dry and cure.

Our second round of brine application is also underway in the townships that requested a second application: Weldon, Platte, Benzonia, Joyfield, and Crystal Lake Townships.

We also have a crew out grading roads throughout the county, while our MDOT parks employee is out maintaining the roadside parks.

As always, we'll have trucks and equipment spread throughout the county today. Please slow down, stay alert, and give our crews plenty of room to work safely.

Thank you, Benzie County!
