VILLAGE OF HONOR

More great things happening in our community!

👏👏 Big shoutout to Butch and our wonderful clerk Jessica for taking the initiative and having the follow through to bring this to our community.

The Project Feed The Kids cooler was delivered to Maley Park and filled with 300 meals for folks in need. It will be filled on a weekly basis on Thursdays. This is their first cooler in benzie county.

All the meals are free for the taking, no judgement. Please be respectful. The program is fully funded through donations and volunteers.

The Village of Honor is holding two public meetings tonight at 630pm at our Village Hall, 10922 Platte st. These meetings are for the potential new road commision building located at 11434 Main st.

The first meeting will be a Zoning Board of Appeals meeting, this meeting is for a variance request to allow a portion of the new building to be 38ft tall. Our zoning ordinance maximum height for this district is 30ft tall.

The second meeting will be immediately after the first and is a planning commission meeting for approval of a special land use permit.

The Honor Corridor Improvement Alliance (CIA) is hosting a “Corridor Clean Up Day” on August 9th from 12-3 pm. The CIA heard you loud and clear: beautification of the corridor as a top priority of those who responded to the recent community survey.

If you wish to volunteer with members of the CIA, please meet at the Village Hall at 12 pm on 8/9 and bring a pair of work gloves! Let’s make Honor an even more beautiful place to live and visit.

🚨Huge news for Village home owners!🚨

The Village of Honor has been awarded a MI neighborhood CDBG grant in the amount of 472,000 dollars! A large majority of these funds will be directly going to homeowners within the village limits!

First off I want to give credit where it due, and that is to our amazing clerk Jessica Roth. Going above and beyond her duties to take the steps necessary to make this happen. Please give her some appreciation for bringing this large amount of money into the village next time you see her!

72,000 dollars of these funds are dedicated to administrative fees involved with this grant process. The remaining 400,000 dollars will be dispersed directly to Village homeowners meeting certain thresholds and guidelines. The goal of this grant is to keep current homes safe and in good condition. This repair program can include large and small home repairs and updates for energy efficiency and accessibility.

Keep your eyes open for more information as this process progresses. We will make sure all village residents are aware of when you can submit an application and the guidelines/thresholds needed to apply.

In an effort to revise and organize Village Ordinance records, At a regularly scheduled meeting on July 13th the Village of Honor council rescinded Blight and Junk Ordinance 44 and amended Blight and Junk Ordinance 34. The motion made by President Theobald and seconded by Trustee Wendel passed with a 5/0 roll call vote. The amended ordinance is available for review at Village Hall, 10922 Platte St, Honor, MI 49640 or on the Village website www.VillageofHonor.org under the ordinances tab, and will take effect 21 days after passage.
