FISH Food Bank

FISH Food Bank At FISH we believe no one should go hungry. Together, we work to ensure that everyone has access to the food they need.

We are a neighbor-helping-neighbor organization, powered almost entirely by dedicated volunteers who care deeply about our community. FISH Food Bank is a volunteer based organization with three part time employees. Volunteers take turns opening the food bank each week providing groceries to those in need of emergency or occasional food assistance. Those groups of volunteers include members of chur

ches, fraternal organizations, businesses, schools, and families. Other volunteers track food donations, stock shelves, pick up donations from local grocery stores, clean the sites, deliver food to shut-ins, and a myriad of other jobs, all done to keep FISH Food Bank operating efficiently and smoothly. Celebrating over 50 years of Service to our community!

When Dianna Risley from Snap Fitness said she would match the Hood River Lions Club generous donation to FISH, at Thursday's Families in The Park she meant it!

Today, Dianna made good on that promise by delivering her matching donation to Jacqueline Carey and Deborah Phillips from FISH. We are so grateful to Dianna and Snap Fitness for their generous donation and for supporting FISH as we provide food to local families in need. Every donation makes a difference!

This is what community looks like!

🥕 From Our Gardens to Our Neighbors’ Tables! 🥬

One of the best things about our community is how willing people are to share. đź’š

Local gardeners are donating their extra fresh produce to FISH , helping us put healthy, homegrown vegetables into the hands of our neighbors who need them.

Every bag of garden-fresh goodness makes a difference—and we are so grateful for the generosity that keeps our community nourished. 🌱❤️

Have extra produce from your garden? We’d love to share it! Thank you for helping FISH feed our community, one fresh harvest at a time.

Thank you Richard and all the volunteers that help make the FISH garden thrive!

Meet Melissa!

We’re excited to introduce Melissa DeCook, FISH Food Bank’s Operations Lead!

Melissa comes to us from Gorge Grown—and honestly, it feels like the most natural partnership. She already gets FISH: the mission, the community, and the importance of connecting people with fresh, healthy food.

You’ll find Melissa working three mornings a week, jumping in wherever she’s needed—whether that’s driving the forklift or truck. helping with produce, or lending a hand alongside our incredible volunteers. She still works with Gorge Grown as well, continuing to strengthen the connection between our organizations.

What stands out most to Melissa is our volunteer team. She describes it as a “well-oiled machine”—a steady, dedicated group, many of whom have been serving for years and bring an incredible level of skill and heart to everything they do.

Melissa loves the mission of FISH, and her connection is deeply personal. Having once been a client herself, she understands how important it is for people to feel comfortable, welcomed, and supported when they walk through our doors.

We’re so grateful to have Melissa as part of the FISH family—please join us in welcoming her!

Our garden is thriving—and it’s all thanks to the incredible dedication of our . In June alone, they harvested nearly 300 pounds of fresh produce, including peas, crisp lettuce, peppers, cabbage, and broccoli.
This isn’t just food—it’s healthy, nutrient-rich produce going straight from the soil into the hands (and homes) of our neighbors.
We are so grateful to grow and share this goodness right here in our community.
