This week we recognize NATIONAL POLICE WEEK for 2026. Our friends in blue are there for you each and every day! We on the red side are here cheering for them always! (except for when they win the tug-of-war against us!) Please give a like to this post to show them your support and if you see them out and about this week, say hello, give them a friendly wave and a smile, and most of all, remember, they do this line of work to keep our community safe and happy. We wish that for them as well! Thank you for all you do, Hooksett Police Department!

Today, we recognize the dedicated members of the Hooksett Fire-Rescue Department who choose to serve our community—at all hours, in all conditions, and often at great personal sacrifice. As the Chief of this Department, I am proud of the professionalism, courage, and compassion you bring to every call, whether it’s a structure fire, a medical emergency, a vehicle crash, a hazardous condition, or a public assist.

International Firefighters’ Day is observed on May 4 to honor firefighters who have fallen in the line of duty and to thank the firefighters who continue to protect lives and property around the world. It’s also a reminder that this career—and this calling—demands constant training, teamwork, and readiness, and it requires the support of families and communities who stand behind those who serve.

To our firefighters: THANK YOU for your commitment, your integrity, and your willingness to run toward what others are running from. To your families and loved ones: Thank you for sharing that sacrifice and supporting the mission.

To our residents: Thank you for your trust, partnership, and continued support of our mission. It does not go unnoticed by me or our members.

To each and every member of Hooksett Fire, past and present, thank you—and Happy International Firefighters’ Day.

We have some "new kids in town" and we are working hard to train them up right! When probationary firefighters start here in Hooksett we put them through a very rigorous two week probationary school taught by our senior members where they learn all about the Hooksett way! We cover operations, EMS, apparatus, fire and rescue skills as well as vehicle extrication and hose operations as shown in our pictures. Our two most recent groups of new hires also got the opportunity to take part in a combined ops burn day at Allenstown's training facility today. The more training the better! Our goal is to prepare these men and woman to provide the best care and service they can to our community! As you have probably noticed, it's a tad blustery out there today. You may have also heard the weather people talking a lot about "drought conditions" all across the state. Brush fires have been popping up in multiple locations in the state today. PLEASE use caution when disposing of lit smoking materials and during any outdoor activity! The fire danger risk is ELEVATED today. Although burning is not banned, it is extremely dangerous today. Extra caution is requested of everyone. HFR Cares!

Last week we had the opportunity to recognize some of our members for their milestones this past year. Chief Nadeau and Asst. Chief Miller recognized Lt. Fitton, Lt. Bowler, and Lt. Hebert on their promotions, as well as FF Treat for his probation completion. FF Curro and FF Boden were not able to attend and will be recognized at the next ceremony later this year. We are grateful for their families and the members of HPD who took the time to join our duty crews and support them in their career! We are truly proud to have such talented men and women on our roster and look forward to great things from them in the future!
