Friday to end Police week…we had our annual downtown clean up and then in the afternoon we had a tug-o-war competition and dodgeball at Hoopa Elementary. The kids have the bragging rights this year! But next year….

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support the First Responder Softball Game between Hoopa Police and Hoopa Fire! It was a great evening filled with friendly competition, laughs, and community spirit.

After a hard-fought game, Hoopa Police came away with the win over Hoopa Fire lbut the real victory was bringing the community together and strengthening the bond between our first responders and the people we serve.

Thank you to both teams for putting on a great game and to all the families, friends, and supporters who cheered everyone on from the sidelines. We’re already looking forward to next year’s rematch! 🚒🚓

We’d also like to thank Tanf for providing shirts for this year’s competition and Hoopa Fire and OES for providing the burgers, dogs, snow cones and drinks!

Today we honored our Officers and families. Officer Grant was awarded Officer of the year for 2025. Officer Grant has responded to over 200 calls for service, assisted outside agencies investigating DUI’s, domestic violence and drug related crime. Officer Grant also serves as a mentor for our security officer/trainees. Rod Johnson received the Edward Guyer Comminity Service Award for his many years of commitment to Hoopa and surrounding communities.

After the walk, the evening continues in Downtown Hoopa. Community members are invited to gather near Coast Central Bank to come together.

Deputies are on scene in the 2700 block of Pine Creek Road in Hoopa investigating a homicide. The Major Crimes Division has taken over the investigation, and a suspect is detained and being questioned on scene. There are no outstanding suspects, and there is no threat to the community at this time.
