📸 Pic of the Week: Solar Infrastructure at the Data Center

Roof-mounted solar brackets have been installed at the Data Center to support a future solar array, helping offset energy costs, strengthen energy resiliency, and ensure reliable uptime for our network!

The Data Center will play a key role in supporting the network infrastructure behind Fiber-to-the-Home service, helping connect homes, businesses, and community institutions across the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation and surrounding areas.

Community Notice: Fiber lines were recently cut from the NTIA project, and we want to share an important reminder. Fiber is not copper. Fiber optic cable is made of glass or plastic and carries data using light, not electricity.

That means fiber:
📌 Does not contain valuable metals.
📌 Has no resale value at scrap yards.
📌 Cannot be reused or repurposed without specialized equipment.

We are now entering the phase of the project where fiber is being pulled through installed conduit. During this time, community members may see fiber reels or coiled fiber optic cable staged at various locations throughout the project area.

These materials are part of active construction and are critical to completing the network. They are not abandoned or excess materials.

Damaging, moving, or removing fiber—intentionally or unintentionally—causes significant project delays, costly repairs, and service disruptions that impact the entire community.

Please do not vandalize, tamper with, or remove any fiber materials. Respect the infrastructure and the work underway to bring improved connectivity to our region.

Thank you for helping protect this important community investment.

Since 2020, Hoopa Valley Public Utilities District (HVPUD) and Acorn Connected has been building the experience and infrastructure needed to help bridge the digital divide in our community.

What began with Tribal wireless service has continued to grow. Through Acorn Connected, HVPUD is working toward Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) to strengthen connectivity across our ancestral lands and adjoining territories.

This is about more than broadband. It’s about digital equity, data sovereignty, and building tribally owned infrastructure that supports the community while staying rooted in Hupa identity.

📸 Pic of the Week: Fiber Reel Delivery

A delivery of fiber optic cable has arrived as installation continues across the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation and surrounding areas.

Over the past year, crews have been hard at work installing underground conduit to prepare for this phase of the project. These reels carry the fiber optic cable that crews will soon be pulling through the conduit to connect homes, businesses, and community institutions with high-speed fiber-optic service.

As construction moves forward, this is a reminder that the grant-funded installation window is limited and will end this Summer—get fiber-ready and sign your Service Line Agreement today to receive FREE installation!

📸 Pic of the Week: Bringing Fiber Directly to You!

Fiber-to-the-Home installation is actively underway, with crews continuing to run fiber lines directly to homes and businesses across the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation and surrounding areas.

This clean installation is made possible by utilizing equipment solutions, including a trencher, as well as the work of the Hoopa Native team carrying out this home installation.

As the buildout continues, this is a reminder that the grant-funded installation window will end in Summer 2026. Now is the time to make sure your property is included. Don’t wait, sign your SLA today to be fiber-ready!
