🚫🔥 STATEWIDE BURN BAN REMAINS IN EFFECT 🔥🚫

No, this is not an April Fool’s joke… we promise 😅

Even though we’ve got some rain in the forecast over the next few days, conditions are still dry enough that burning is not safe and is still prohibited statewide. It only takes one spark to get out of control, and we don’t want anyone testing that theory today (or any day).

So while your buddy might try to tell you “the burn ban was lifted” — nice try. Don’t fall for it.

Let’s all do our part:
🚫 No open burning
🚫 No brush piles
🚫 No “quick” backyard fires

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in keeping our community safe. Stay smart, stay safe… and save the pranks for something less flammable 👍

🚨 BURN BAN EXTENDED – NO PERMITS ISSUED 🚨

Governor Jim Pillen has extended the statewide burn ban due to continued high fire danger conditions.

⛔ The burn ban is now in effect until 11:59 PM on April 10th, 2026.

🔥 IMPORTANT:
• NO burn permits will be issued while this ban remains in place
• All open burning is prohibited under this order
• Conditions remain dangerous, and fires can spread rapidly

These measures are in place to protect lives, property, and our community.

🚒 If you see a fire or one gets out of control — DO NOT WAIT. CALL IT IN IMMEDIATELY.

Effective immediately the Governor has issued an Executive Order that bans the issuance of Open Burn Permits for 14 days. The Executive Order prohibits any fire chief or person designated by the fire chief from granting an open burn permit for any purpose. Any existing burn permit that has not been completed is null and void and open burning is not permitted for 14 consecutive days beginning now.

This order will be reviewed prior to its termination to determine the need to extend the ban. Further information will be provided prior to that date.

Last night members of the Hooper Volunteer Fire District spent time training on vehicle extrication and sharpening our rescue skills. Training like this allows our firefighters to become more comfortable using the tools and techniques needed when responding to real emergencies.

On the first vehicle we practiced basic extrication techniques, focusing on safe access and patient removal. The second scenario involved stabilizing the vehicle using a tie-back with our Rescue 42 struts before working the extrication. For the third vehicle, which was positioned on its top, we performed a chain basket stabilization using the struts to safely secure the vehicle.

A big thank you to All Metals Market for once again allowing us to use vehicles for training. Opportunities like this help us continue learning and improving so we can better serve our community. 🚒
