On 3/30/25 at around 2:10 pm, trained Hoopeston EMA spotters equipped with anemometers measured sustained winds of 82 mph with several gusts up to 107 mph about a mile West of Hoopeston. There was zero visibility due to heavy rain. At that time, I made the decision to activate the emergency sirens in Hoopeston. It is Hoopeston EMA policy to activate the sirens with winds greater than 70 mph with no visibility.

Minor damage was noted throughout the city. 2 homes sustained damage from tree limbs that came through their roofs. Pea to marble sized hail was also reported in town. All EMA spotters reported backed to town safely and no injuries have been reported to us as of this time.
