Please remember the Bornt Family and The North Hoosick Fire Department as they mourn Ed’s passing. He was a very dedicated member of the department and served the entire Town of Hoosick and surrounding communities with pride for many years.

The North Hoosick Fire Department lost another good member on Friday, August 21st. Edward Bornt passed away from a long hard fought battle with cancer. Ed was a 51 year life time member of the department holding several officers positions including Chief, Asst. Chief, President, Vice President, and Board of Directors. More information will be shown as it becomes available. May he R.I.P. (June 16, 1955 - August 21, 2026.)

8/6/26 Accident at the intersection of NY Rt 7 and Hill Road. The traffic light was out due to a wide spread power outage. It is important to stress that when a traffic control device is not functioning, the intersection becomes a 4 WAY STOP!!! Thank you to our mutual aid partners for this incident… Hoosick Regional Ambulance, Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, Pittstown Fire and Hoosick Falls Fire!!!

UPDATE… The road is re-opened!

ROAD CLOSURE. HILL ROAD IS CLOSED FROM THE VILLAGE LINE TO RT 7 POWER LINE DOWN. SEEK ANOTHER ROUTE.

I am honored to announce the passage of legislation in both the Senate and Assembly to designate a portion of state highway in Rensselaer County as the “Robert F. Bornt Memorial Highway” in honor of longtime New York State Department of Transportation Highway Maintenance Supervisor and Hoosick Falls Fire Chief Robert Bornt.

Robert wasn’t just a public servant; he was a husband, father, grandfather, and friend to so many throughout Rensselaer County. I had the privilege of knowing Rob personally, and anyone who knew him understood that service to others wasn’t simply something he did, it was who he was.

It was a bittersweet celebration tonight as members of The Hoosick Volunteer Fire Department threw a surprise cookout in honor of Jeff and Paz Estes. After 18 plus years of dedicated service to our community, Jeff and Paz have decided it’s time to go south! Thank You from not just our members, but, from our community that you have served very well! Best wishes for your future endeavors in Tennessee!!! YOU WILL BE MISSED!!!

Through the generosity of Creative Custom Woodcraft in Hoosick, The Hoosick Volunteer Fire Department is holding an Adirondack Chair raffle! Tickets can be obtained from any HFD member! They are $5 each or a book of 5 for $20 (Your Best Buy!!!) The drawing will be June 1st… just in time for summer relaxation!!! HURRY… before they’re all gone!
