HCS parents are invited to join us for a special program focused on helping young people build hope, self-worth, resilience, and positive connections while raising awareness around adolescent su***de.

As part of Su***de Prevention and Awareness Week, parents will learn more about the Love Like Lexi Project and the message high school students will hear during upcoming assemblies. Andrea Mills, Lexi’s mother, will share her personal story of loss, hope, and resilience and discuss ways families can support their children through life’s challenges.

Every HCS school is officially one of America’s Healthiest Schools! 🎉

We are proud to share that all of our schools have been recognized by on the 2026 list of America’s Healthiest Schools for their work to support the health and well-being of our students, staff, and families. HCS schools were also the only schools in Alabama to earn this honor!

This annual recognition celebrates schools nationwide that are putting strong practices in place to support whole-child health, academic success, and lifelong well-being.

ALL 16 schools were awarded the topics of Supporting School Health Services and Bolstering Physical Education & Activity.

And an extra congratulations to our five All-Star Award winners, recognized for excelling in all nine health-related categories by Healthier Generation: Deer Valley Elementary, Rocky Ridge Elementary, Shades Mountain Elementary, Berry Middle School, and Hoover High School.

Congratulations to all of our schools for helping make health and well-being a priority across HCS!

Creativity was on full display at the Hoover City Schools Visual Art Gallery Viewing Night!

The PAC was filled with amazing artwork from students representing all of our schools with proud families, teachers, and friends there to celebrate them!

Not only did we celebrate a great start to the school year at our August Board of Education meeting, but we also recognized some amazing people and teams across HCS!

🏀 Coach Krystle Johnson was honored by the AHSAA with the Class 7A Making a Difference Award and Girls Basketball State Championship Coach after leading the Bucs to their sixth state title.

🚌 HCS Transportation was named a 2026 Top Transportation Team for the second year in a row, one of only six districts nationwide to receive the honor.

✈️ Our LTI Planning Team was recognized for coordinating more than 150 sessions for this year’s Learn, Teach, Inspire Conference.

💼 Our Human Resources Department has received more than 5,000 applications and hired 219 employees since March.

🏫 We also thanked State Rep. Mike Shaw and State Rep. David Faulkner for providing a combined $93,500 to support HCS schools and programs.

Hoover High School and Spain Park High School have once again been recognized among the nation’s best in the 2026–2027 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings, placing in the top 25% nationwide.

The Class of 2026 gave us even more reasons to celebrate:
🎓 99% graduation rate - highest in HCS history
🎓 58% accepted scholarships - highest since 2021
🎓 91% are attending a two- or four-year college - highest since 2020

Our students’ dreams are big, and with every new opportunity, our momentum keeps growing.
