National Math Stars recognizes extraordinary performance in math. GVES recognized 7 students who are National Math Stars because of their performance on their 2nd grade ACAP Math test last year! Mrs. Willcox 5th grade students participated in the regional Invention Convention this year, and nine students were selected to advance to the state competition! The State Invention Convention was held on Saturday, April 18, at Auburn University. One of our 5th grade students, Kelly, earned 3rd place in the 5th grade division.
Other students who represented our school at the state level included Hunter, Amon, Victoria, Ellie, T’Asiah, Quinn, Jay, and Joshua. Students were evaluated based on their inventions, tri-fold display boards, logbooks, live pitches, and video pitches submitted prior to the competition. They had the opportunity to present their work to both judges and the public.
Our 3rd place winner, Kelly, received a certificate, a medal, and a $25 cash prize! Way to go, Gators!
