At Monday night’s Hoover City Council meeting:

* Mayor Brocato gave special recognition to the Hoover Randle Home & Gardens. It was recently named The Best Event Facility in the state by the online publication guidetoalabama.com. Congrats to Event Coordinator Debbie Rutherford and the entire HRHG team on the accolades!

* State Representative Representative Leigh Hulsey presented a check to the Hoover Fire Department that will go towards purchasing training equipment. She also presented a check to the Hoover Police Department that will go towards the purchase of Automated External Defibrillators (AED). Thank you so much, Rep. Husley!

* Mayor Brocato and the Council shared a proclamation in honor of Miss Hoover Emma Terry as she makes her way to the Miss Alabama pageant. Her proclamation presentation came after Emma’s send-off party which was held in the lobby of City Hall before the Council meeting. Emma will compete in the state pageant on June 28th on the campus of Samford University.

*** COMMUNITY ALERT - SIDEWALK PROJECT ***

Beginning tomorrow, crews will begin installing sidewalk starting on Old Columbiana Road.

The sidewalk will run from the Patton Chapel Road/Old Columbiana Road intersection and connect to the existing sidewalk in front of the Green Valley Elementary School.

The road will remain open during construction, but will have temporary traffic control in the lane adjacent to the sidewalk while crews work.

The project is expected to be complete in 60 days.

Update: Water service was restored to a section of Hoover at 4:00 a.m. ahead of the scheduled completion time of 7:00 a.m.! The planned outage allowed the BWW's crews to replace two valves and a 10-foot section of eight-inch water main.

Residents should run cold water through their faucets for five minutes to flush their pipes if they experience air in their plumbing or brown water. Contact us at 205-244-4000 if you have questions or concerns. City of Hoover
