Took some time out from our own leaf yard work to clean/clear 4 storm drains near our house. All 4
drains are clearly marked as draining to waterways. The benefits to clearing the drains are the prevention of clogging which can lead to localized flooding. Also, preventing trash, debris and organic material from entering our lake and waterways. Organic material provides nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen which can contribute to Harmful Algae Blooms (HABs). Love and care for your community at all times. ~ CR

Mat is a stand up Hopatcong Borough resident who selflessly followed through on a kidney donation despite being laid off from his job. You may remember him from the fall when he asked for leaf bags so he and his children could clean his neighbor’s yard. If you can donate to help him, thank you!!!

Saw the video of the bear and the FD #4 dumpster. Headed over today to clean up a little bit. Let me tell you that was a STRONG bear… I tried twice to lift the dumpster, couldn’t do it. Also noted a little deeper in the brush the bear’s dining area. I’m not one to wander around their feeding area alone, so if anybody wants to give me a hand we can clean a little more. Thank you! ~ WC
