🚲⚠️ REMINDER: New Jersey E-Bike Law Changes Take Effect July 19, 2026 ⚠️🚲

The Hopatcong Police Department would like to remind residents that new e-bike requirements go into effect July 19, 2026. Please make sure you understand the rules before you ride.

Important E-Bike Requirements:

🔹 Minimum Age
• Riders must be at least 15 years old to operate an e-bike.

🔹 License Requirement
Riders must have:
• A valid driver’s license OR
• An e-bike/motorized bicycle license or permit through NJMVC.

🔹 Registration
• E-bikes must be registered with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC).

🔹 Insurance
• Motorized bicycles are required to carry insurance coverage.
• Low-speed electric bicycles do not require insurance but still require registration.

🔹 Helmets
• Helmets are mandatory for all e-bike riders, regardless of age.

🔹 Ride Safely
✔️ Obey all traffic laws
✔️ Ride with the flow of traffic
✔️ Stop at stop signs and traffic signals
✔️ Watch for pedestrians and vehicles
✔️ Do not operate recklessly

Our goal is to keep everyone safe riders, pedestrians, and motorists.

We are excited to announce Fuddruckers at the Roxbury Mall on Route 10 has set up a Burgers-for-Benefits event to help support the Hopatcong Ambulance Squad!!! This awesome event will happen over 4 days - Thursday June 25th through Sunday June 28th!!! Your help is needed to make this event a success! During the 4 days, all you have to do is dine in or order take out and present (or show on a mobile device) one of the “admission tickets” shown in this post to the cashier. If ordering over the phone let them know you are participating in the “Hopatcong Ambulance Squad Fundraiser”. Unfortunately, orders through Door Dash and other delivery services do not quality as they are handled through a 3rd party. Hopatcong Ambulance Squad is celebrating 80 years of serving the community and in these tough times, we need your help! Come out and enjoy a great lunch or dinner and help support us! Not a burger person? No worries, they have a lot of other great menu options for everyone! Huge shout out and thank you to Fuddruckers for this wonderful generous opportunity!
