Hopatcong State Park

Hopatcong State Park Nine miles in length and covered by 2,500 acres of freshwater, Lake Hopatcong is the focal point of the park.

Hopatcong State Park is at the southwest end of the lake and is a popular spot for fishing, boating, and swimming.

This week at Hopatcong State Park…

As the weather warms up we are awaiting the opening of our swimming area. Our anticipated opening day for swimming is projected to be June 17th. Until then, we ask that park visitors stay off the beach and out of the water.

There’s still time to spend your summer outside working as a New Jersey State Parks lifeguard! Lifeguard positions remain available at High Point State Park, Swartswood State Park, Hopatcong State Park and Wawayanda State Park.

The first step is attending our lifeguard test this Saturday, June 13, from noon to 3 p.m. at Kittatinny Regional High School, 77 Halsey Road, Newton. Walk-ins are welcome.

Lifeguard salaries range from $19 – 25.50 per hour based on skills and experience.

Join the team at Hopatcong State Park this summer and make a difference as a lifeguard, while enjoying lakefront views! 🛶

No prior experience? No problem! New Jersey State Park’s will train lifeguards in CPR, Automated External Defibrillators, First Aid and other necessary medical practices. Each lifeguard will also receive a U.S. Lifesaving Association certification.

Lifeguard salaries start at $19 an hour. Junior lifeguard salaries are $17.50 an hour.

🛟Lifeguards develop lasting strengths and qualities including teamwork, leadership, clear communication, preparedness, situational awareness and the ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
🛟Junior lifeguards work on skills training, giving new recruits a head start on their experience. Junior lifeguards cannot perform lifeguard duties for the public until age 16. Applicants must be 15 years old.

To get started, apply online and attend a regional swim and run test.
