Hope Police Department K9 Duke/K9 Gunnar K9 Gunnar is trained and certified in in Drug Detection. The Town of Hope Police Department exists to serve the community.

We do this by protecting life and property, preventing crime, enforcing the law, and by maintaining order for all citizens. We consider service to our community to be our primary responsibility. We will always strive to professionally and enthusiastically respond to the community’s needs.”


The Hope Police Department’s Canine Unit was established as a means of supplementing patrol officers and assisting in the detection of illegal drugs and paraphernalia. Since its implementation, our canine/handler teams have been utilized in the detection and seizure of illegal substances. In addition to locating illegal contraband, canines will be utilized to locate missing persons. The Hope Police Department’s Canine Unit currently consists of one active-duty handler/canine teams.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of K9 Spike, recently retired from the McClain County Sheriff’s Office.

K9 Spike began his career with the McClain County Sheriff’s Office in January 2023 and retired honorably this past July. Spike faced severe medical problems that he fought bravely. This is the only battle he ever lost. He died peacefully in his sleep.

Please keep K9 Spike’s adopted family and the McClain County Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Spike. You served well and will be missed.

Good news!!! 12:30 pm-A short time ago a homeowner observed the female on her property. Law enforcement was quickly on scene and the missing female has been reunited with family. Thanks for spreading the information!!

Update: 11:45 am~Still no additional sightings. Please be on the look out and call law enforcement with any information you may have. We are using all available resources to locate her. The Indiana State Police, Indiana Conservation Officers, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, and Jackson County EMA are all assisting the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and other area law enforcement officers are searching for a missing person, Maria Guevara Biveros, age 59, who left a residence on the south side of Reddington, along US 31 in northern Jackson County at 4:50 am this morning. She was last seen walking northbound on US 31 through Reddington. She was last seen wearing a white shirt and light colored pajama pants. She also possibly has house slippers on.
