A public reminder

We are in a Fire Emergency and Burn Ban in Steele County!!

Willfully starting a fire during this ban is guilty of a Class B Misdemeanor. Also punishable to 30 days in jail and $1,500 fine.

At their Commission Meeting yesterday, the Steele County Commissioners declared a Fire Emergency and Burn Ban tying everything to the Fire Index. When we are in the High, Very High, Extreme, and Red Flag Warnings is when this Burn Ban is in effect. This includes NO OPEN BURNING when the Burn Ban is in effect.

It's dry out there, let's all do our part to keep the County and all of our emergency responders safe!

The Fire Index changes daily and is updated by 6am. The index can be found here: https://ndresponse.gov/burn-ban-restrictions-fire-danger-maps.

For reference, there is NO BURN BAN in effect for today as we are in the Moderate Level on the fire index!
