Very sad to report that Dolly Parton, one of the greatest Country singers, and far beyond, EVER, has just passed away. This is a true loss for millions of people. There has never been anyone like her, and never will. In her honor, I am lowering the American flag throughout the United States for a one week period beginning tonight at 6:00PM. STATEMENT FROM Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds JOHN C. ACKERMAN CONCERNING VOTE-BY-MAIL

"Yesterday the United States Supreme Court paused a federal court order in Trump vs California concerning an Executive Order about Vote-By-Mail. The Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Office has and will continue to follow all State and Federal Election Laws. At this time, we see no changes that have resulted from this Supreme Court action that could impact the 2026 Gubernatorial Election in Illinois.

While this Supreme Court action may impact Vote-By-Mail in future elections, and we will continue to monitor changes in State and Federal Laws concerning this topic, we do not see a scenario at this time in which changes could or would be made before the November 3rd 2026 Illinois Gubernatorial Election. At this time, we are proceeding forward with plans to mail out all requested Vote-By-Mail Ballots on September 24th, the first day of Early Voting for the November 3rd 2026 Gubernatorial Election.

Tazewell County Citizens that have requested a Vote-By-Mail Ballot should be reassured that your ballot will be mailed to you in a timely manner and your Vote-By-Mail Ballot will be processed and counted. If any changes do occur, my office will notify you in advance so you can make the appropriate plans in response.

The State of Illinois has agreed to a federal court order issued on Friday temporarily enjoining it from enforcing its new assisted su***de law against Catholic hospitals under the authority of the Most Reverend Thomas John Paprocki, Bishop of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, the Lutheran Care Center, and four Illinois physicians while their federal lawsuit moves forward.

Thomas More Society filed a lawsuit on their behalf on August 11, asking a federal court to block the “End of Life Options” Act before it takes effect on September 12.

🇺🇸 REPUBLICAN DAY AT THE ILLINOIS STATE FAIR! 🇺🇸

Members of the Tazewell County Republican Women—along with several of our husbands—were proud to attend Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair!

We heard from dynamic, determined candidates who are ready to flip Illinois and get our state back on track. One question echoed throughout the day:

“Are you better off than you were 7½ years ago?”

Our answer is a resounding NO!

Under Governor JB Pritzker, Illinois families are being taxed on nearly everything imaginable—all to support an inflated state budget that keeps growing. Add that to the runaway inflation families endured during the Biden administration, and Illinois has become increasingly unaffordable.

Yet Governor Pritzker continues to spend more, tax more and undermine the work President Trump is doing to help hardworking Americans.

Illinois needs change—and that change begins with US!
