The Revitalization of Town Park is still moving forward. Although this was the only article of 30 to receive an unfavorable vote from Fin-com you as the citizens can pass the motion at town meeting Tuesday May 16th and have this project go to the ballot. This is the time to speak up and voice your vote to get some of our fields up to par. This project timing may not be ideal and the park commission understands not everyone is in support but lets let the majority decide.

Per Fin-com:
An unfavorable FinCom recommendation does not mean that the article will be passed over - it's a recommendation provided to the public for additional context.

Even with an unfavorable recommendation from the FinCom, the article will still be brought up at the town meeting and put before the public. FinCom recommendations are an advisory function and they indicate an expression of support like you suggested, they're not an arbitration of which articles make it onto the Warrant.

In the packet that town meeting attendees receive, they'll see a note under the article to inform them of what kind of action the FinCom recommends on the article - they're free to take that recommendation or not to.

Please note and discuss, for those individuals who continue to deface and destroy the bathrooms and other park property.

If you destroy or damage another's property "willfully and maliciously," you have committed vandalism with ill will and the intent to do harm and you can be charged with "willful destruction of property," a felony offense.

Be considerate to your fellow neighbors.

The Town Park bathrooms are now reopened again, for the first time since 2019.
Thanks to Jamie Gordon from J. Gordon Plumbing for volunteering his time, along with his son to make this happen. Whereas we were not alowed to open the facility last year, a bit more work was required than normnal.
Thanks men for stepping up to help Hopedale be what we love about our town.

The doors are on a time lock, with the lights.
They are currently open approximately 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

The bathrooms are cleaned to the current CDC guidelines on a daily basis, please report any issues to our email address at [email protected]

We had the White Oak cut into mostly moveable sections suitable for firewood. A lot of it has been removed. The wood may be taken by residents. No power tools, chainsaws etc. may be used.
Please be kind.

Please be advised that on Thursday, April 29 commencing at approximately 7:30 the Hopedale Park Commission in cooperation with the Hopedale Tree Warden will be having this large White Oak removed.
It has past the safe life cycle for this tree.
If you will notice, it is suffering from Crown Die Back. The center most branches have no buds, and are dead. We also suspect rot has affected the trunk.

Traffic delays are likely, as the road will be limited to one way traffic most of the day, and closed completely for short intervals as branches over the street are rermoved.

Yesterday was monumental.
The Hopedale Park Commission was the recipient of a $21,000. anonymous donation to repair and/or upgrade the Town Park Playground.
I called in our vendor of playground equipment Mike Perody of Ultiplay.
He and I went over ther list of requred parts and suggestions. We chose a new slide and repairs to the current play structures.
This was discussed, and voted on at our HPC meetings over the last few months.
All parts were ordered and recently arrived in town. One of our Commissioners Mike Ledone, enlisted a few volunteers. When I was working with the crew of Ultiplay to erect the new slide a couple of weeks ago, two of their workers volunteered to come help. They brought tools and immense knowledge of instalation knowledge with them.

Thanks to Mike Ledone, Jay Sullivan, and JP Vignone, from Hopedale and to Flaviano and Louis from Ultiplay. Btw, they don't even live in town.
And thanks to the wives of our helpers for sandwiches and snacks to feed the crew.
It was a long, exhausting day, but a great success.

The start of the second larger project this week at Draper Field.
The North-West corner, is full of low spots from settling all these years.
I refer to it as the Mogul Field. It has been a problem for years.
The Hopedale Youth Baseball Association approached me with an idea to share the cost of some loam.
I reached out to the school for soe funds as well. This was approved at a Hopedale Park Commission meeting.
The Highway Dept. has an idea to take some of the rotted leave mulch as a a first layer of fill to some of the extremely low spots. This is what they are doing here, the screened loam is pictured in the three large piles. Those represent about $2,000. 90 yds. of matterial.
More info as the project progresses.
