Who’s ready for warmer weather?! I know I am!

Just a quick reminder that now that the sun is out, kids, families, walkers, runners, bikers, skaters, hoppers, skippers, and movers and shakers are all out enjoying the weather.

Drivers, make sure to stay alert and slow down, especially in residential areas and on our Town properties and public spaces, especially at places like the Rec and TCP. We appreciate your help in keeping our community safe and welcoming for all!

Happy Birthday Beekman!

Event alert! 🚨

On Tuesday, 3/31 from 10am - 1pm, we will have an ambassador from the County Office for the Aging here to answer your questions! We’ve seen some of their work in the past and been really impressed. The County offers a lot of services for seniors, are a wealth of knowledge, and all around great people.

Interested but not sure if it’s “for you”? No problem! “Tell me about what sort of services you offer” is a totally valid question to ask at the event, and who knows, you might hear about a cool resource or program for you or a loved one! We hope to see you there 🙂

With week one in the books, I wanted to take a moment to reflect. I think that one skill of an effective public official is to listen more than speak. And this week, we heard so many critical insights - from our Rec, from our Engineer, from our Highway team, and more.

One particularly informative meeting that I want to call out was Beekman’s Conservation Advisory Committee meeting on Monday evening. There were a number of really interesting insights shared that strongly aligned with many of the viewpoints regarding open space preservation that we’ve heard from community members. This is a nuanced issue that ties in with zoning and planning at both the local and regional level. I plan to continue listening to these conversations and learning more about how municipalities collaborate with local and statewide organizations, including groups such as the Dutchess Land Conservancy and Open Space Institute.

On Tuesday evening, Laureen graciously let me tag along as her plus one to a Dutchess County Supervisors & Mayors meeting. I am continually impressed by the breadth of knowledge and willingness to get to work that we have in so many of our local elected officials. I am deeply grateful to the Association for your generosity of knowledge and experience. I stand on the shoulders of giants, and I hope to serve well in my role for the benefit of Beekman, for Dutchess County, and for all of our residents.
