Happy from the sweetest main squeeze around! Clementine is a 3-year-old tabby who is 100% true to her name—bright, sunny, and packed with pure citrus sweetness. 🍊✨

She recently retired from young motherhood, officially clocked out of mom duty forever, and is ready to peel back a brand-new chapter where she gets to be the pampered one. At three years young, she’s full of zest, fantastic with other cats, and looking for a home where she can alternate between high-speed play sessions with a furry buddy and legendary cuddles.

Clementine somehow has had zero adoption interest so far, which is totally un-peel-ievable for a girl with this much flavor and charm! She’s officially ready to pack her bags, move in, and add a little extra sunshine to your life.

If you’re interested in meeting Clementine, message us or fill out an application today to set up a meet and greet!

🐾 “HOW CAN I HELP HHS?” HERE’S HOW! 🐾

We are caring for a LOT of cats and kittens—and more continue to need us every day. Unfortunately, love alone does not fill food bowls, clean litter boxes, cover veterinary care, or keep the shelter running.

If you’ve ever wanted to help Hopewell Humane Society, here are some ways you can make a real difference:

🛒 Purchase something from one of our wishlists:
https://a.co/0gBMbSxZ
https://www.chewy.com/g/hopewell-humane-society-inc_b80665113

🐱 Donate everyday shelter necessities, including:
• Wet and dry kitten food
• Wet and dry adult cat food
• Kitten milk replacer and nursing supplies
• Cat litter
• P*e pads
• Paper towels and cleaning supplies
• Trash bags and laundry supplies
• Cat beds, blankets, toys, and enrichment items

💵 Make a monetary donation toward veterinary care, medications, vaccinations, spay/neuter appointments, and emergency treatment.

🍼 Foster kittens, nursing mothers, recovering cats, or cats who simply need a break from shelter life.

🧹 Volunteer your time. Cleaning, feeding, laundry, organizing supplies, transporting cats, helping at events, and completing facility projects all matter.

🏠 Adopt—and choose the cat who truly fits your household and lifestyle.
https://thehopewellhumanesociety.org/adopt.html

📣 Share our cats, fundraisers, events, and educational posts. You may not be able to adopt, foster, or donate today, but your share could reach someone who can.

HHS is almost entirely volunteer-run. We cannot continue helping cats without people willing to contribute their time, supplies, funds, space, or voice.

There is a way for almost everyone to help—and every bit of that help matters. ❤️🐾

Tuxedo Tuesday: Suit Up for Charm & Mischief 👔🐾

It’s , which means it’s time to appreciate the resident gentlemen who never take off their formalwear—no matter what they’re up to.

First, we have 4-year-old Dean Martin (aka “Deano”). A classic black-and-white tuxy boy, Deano operates on one simple rule: Why purr when you can present a full, uninterrupted keynote speech? He is delightfully chatty, constantly narrating his daily routine, debating dinner times, and serenading the room with his endless vocal commentary.

Then there’s 6-month-old Bowser, who wears a sleek grey tuxedo but completely rejects traditional feline social boundaries. Bowser firmly believes he was born a shoulder parrot. Standing still for more than three seconds is an open invitation for him to launch onto your back, inspect your hairstyle with his paws, and purr directly into your ear. He’s a total lovebug, high-energy hair-stylist, and instant best friend to every other cat in the house.

Two dashing suits, zero personal space, and infinite entertainment. Who needs a boring Tuesday when you have these two keeping life fabulous? ✨

CATS ARE COMPANIONS, NOT ACCESSORIES.

Every time we post a Bengal, Siamese, unusually marked kitten, or one with striking eyes, the applications come flying in.

“What breed is it?”
“I want the one with the blue eyes.”
“I only want a Bengal.”
“Is the fluffy one still available?”

And listen, we get it. They’re beautiful. Certain breeds, markings, coats, and eye colors naturally catch people’s attention. There is absolutely nothing wrong with thinking a cat is gorgeous.

But a cat is a companion, and choosing one should be based on far more than physical appearance.

Ask about their personality. Their needs. Their energy level. Whether they enjoy children, other animals, being held, or having their own space. And please, learn their NAME.

Often, tabbies and black cats, the affectionate, hilarious, loyal little weirdos with just as much love to give, are often overlooked because they’re considered “ordinary.”

But let’s be clear: There is nothing ordinary about any of the cats in our care. Each one is wonderful, with their own personality, preferences, quirks, and special qualities. Are we biased? Absolutely. But we also know them as individuals, not just as photos on a screen.

A cat is not a designer handbag. They are not décor. They are not a limited-edition collectible selected to match your aesthetic.

The prettiest cat in the room may be completely incompatible with your household, while the “ordinary” cat you scrolled past could be the best companion you’ve ever had.

Adopt the cat who fits your life, not the cat who fits your feed. 🐾

Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day! 🖤✨

Black cats are often overlooked, but three of our absolute favorite house panthers—Yuki, Silky, and Alice—haven’t received any interest yet, and we are determined to change that today!

Yuki is a 3-year-old stunning long-haired beauty, a total love bug who loves to chat and keep you company. He is great with other cats and would love a feline friend!

Silky is a quiet 1-year-old girl who adores attention and is looking for a peaceful sanctuary where she can rightfully rule as the queen of the household.

Alice is 9 years young, talkative, and packed with personality—she has a whole lot of love to give and prefers a home with no other kitties so she can soak up all your affection.

All three of these sweet kitties are available for adoption through Hopewell Humane Society. If you’ve been thinking about adding a house panther to your family, please share this post or reach out to us today to help Yuki, Silky, and Alice find the forever homes they deserve! 🐾🖤

HAPPY TAILS ADOPTION UPDATE - Cocoa and Popeye🐾❤️

Sometimes you walk in looking for one companion and end up leaving with the ultimate dream duo!

When their mom came in to adopt, Popeye made the decision easy. He didn’t wait to be picked; he chose her instantly, parking himself by her side the moment she sat down and refusing to leave.

Then there was Cocoa. Miss Cocoa had a tough start in life, coming to us having seizures due to severe Toxoplasmosis which she has now recovered from. Her sweet, calm energy immediately connected with her future mom’s heart. Knowing this gentle soul was completely worth the wait, she patiently waited until Cocoa was officially ready for adoption—and the rest is history.

Now, Theodore Jamal (previously Popeye) and Cocoa Chanel are thriving as best friends, getting along fabulously, and living their absolute best lives together in their forever home!

This is what rescue is all about: giving deserving animals a brand new lease on life, no matter where they started or what they’ve gone through.

Congratulations to this gorgeous family! 🥂✨

THE REAL COST OF “FREE” TNR 🐾

We hear it constantly:

“Can someone come trap these cats?”

“Why should I have to pay? They aren’t mine.”

“I don't have the money.”

“I only feed them because I don’t want them to starve.”

We understand, and we’re glad you care enough to feed them.

But here is the truth:

Those cats aren’t ours either.

They don’t belong to the rescuers crawling under porches, sitting beside traps for hours, or loading frightened cats into their cars before sunrise.

Yet when someone asks for “free” TNR, they are asking another person to carry the entire cost of helping them.

Because TNR is never actually free.

Every trap costs money.
Every surgery appointment costs money.
Every can of bait, gallon of gas, dose of flea treatment, dewormer, vaccine, puppy pad, and cleaning supply costs money.

Then there is the work nobody sees:

⏰ Waking up before sunrise for appointments
🚗 Driving cats to surgery and returning them afterward
🪤 Spending hours—or sometimes days—trying to trap one cautious cat
🧼 Scrubbing urine and f***s from traps
🏠 Safely holding cats before and after surgery
💔 Losing sleep while worrying about whether every cat will be okay

“Free” simply means the person asking is not the one paying.

Someone else is paying with their money.

Their gas.

Their time.

Their sleep.

Their weekend.

And, far too often, their own exhausted heart.

Feeding community cats is an act of compassion—but food alone will not stop the cycle. Without spaying and neutering, a few cats can quickly become an entire colony, and the need soon becomes greater than any one rescuer or organization can handle.

If cats regularly eat on your property, you do not have to solve the problem alone, but you do need to be willing to participate in the solution. 🤝

If you can trap, help trap.

If you can transport, offer a ride.

If you can contribute toward surgery, contribute what you can.

If you can donate food, bait, or supplies, donate.

If you cannot do any of those things, share the need and help us find someone who can.

But please do not say, “They aren’t my cats,” and expect rescuers to make them entirely theirs.

They aren’t ours either.

They are community cats, and helping them requires a community. 🐈‍⬛❤️

So...you know all that heavy rain we got this week? Well, a bit of it snuck in through the roof and left us with a pesky ceiling leak right in our lobby! ☔ (I spent half the morning watching the drops go drip, drip, drip—truly top-tier entertainment, but the humans say we need to fix it!)

Because the repair team is coming in with all their equipment to patch things up and make our lobby sparkling new again, our doors will be closed for general visits this weekend. 🛠️

But, if you’ve been looking for a sweet addition to your family and want to adopt one of my awesome feline friends (or yours truly!), don’t worry! You can still reach out to us, and our team will gladly whip up individual meet and greets around the repair work! 🐱

We’re getting everything patched up super fast and expect to be fully back open for regular meet and greets next weekend! Thank you all so much for being so patient with us—you guys are truly the frosting on top! 👋💖✨

Sweetest wishes,
Cupcake 🧁

Well, hello there, darlin’!

My name is Ellie Mae, and I am a ripe, radiant 9 years young. Now, a lady never usually reveals her age, but I like to think of myself like a fine sweet tea—only getting sweeter with time!

I’ve been resting my paws here at the shelter for 122 days, chirping my sweetest little “hello” at every single person who walks through that door. Every single time, my little heart flutters, hopin’ and prayin’ that they might just be my ticket to a cozy forever home.

Now, I do have to share a little secret with you: the nice vet doctor says I have a systolic heart murmur. That just means my ticker makes a slightly different sound than most! It doesn’t stop me from loving with all my might, but it does mean I need a special someone who will promise to take me for regular check-ups at the vet to keep me feeling like the queen I am.

When it comes to my living arrangements, a southern belle needs her beauty sleep and a little bit of respect! I would just adore being your one and only feline princess. However, if you already have other cats, that’s just fine too—so long as they’re the polite sort who give me my personal space and let me hold the spotlight where I belong.

Do you have room in your heart (and on your couch) for a sweet girl like me? I promise to serenade you with my happiest chirps every single day.

Come on by this Saturday and Sunday from 12-4pm and ask for Ellie Mae—I’ll be waitin’ for you! 🌸🐾
