Southside From the Heart Stitchers We are a group of knitters/crocheters. The items created are given to various non-profit organizati We gather to knit and crochet blankets, shawls, hats, etc.

Our group was formed by Shari Henry in 2009 with the guidance of Lois Moore, founder of "From the Heart". for various non-profit groups, who give these items to those in need. We also craft items for infants and children. We use donated yarns and knitting needles and crochet hooks, therefore, we donate back to the community. Our program is FREE and open to the public of ALL ages and gender.

Hi Ladies, right now (1/7/25) the Hopewell library is open and plans to be open through regular evening hours, so if you want to make it to Tuesday night knitting you can! I'll update you if we close early for any reason.
I'm also going to drop off any hats and scarves we have in stock, to the cold weather shelter tomorrow. If you have anything you want to add now is a great time to bring it in or get stitching! It seems like this cold might linger.

“Knitters have a creative leisure interest that can also help them to cope with life and so improve their mental health. I’m convinced that this is part of the reason why so many people have taken up knitting these days,” said Joanna Nordstrand, one of the study’s authors, in Medical Life Sciences. She is an occupational therapist and Ph.D. student at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, and a knitter herself.

The Hopewell Evening Group is changing nights! Tonight is the first night we will meet on Tuesday evenings instead of Thursday. The time remains the same, starting at 5:30 pm.

Two Updates:
If you don't get the newsletter, the library is in need of as many baby blankets as we can get before April 1st. Blankets in all colors please.
I forgot to include in the newsletter (if you want to get a very short email from me once a month DM us!) that in January we donated 140 items! 71 of which went locally to the Hopewell Food Pantry, with Mr. Commander's thanks.
