As prom weekend approaches, our School Resource Officer took a proactive step to keep our students safe by hosting a DUI Simulation in partnership with South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Bennett.
Students had the opportunity to drive golf carts both with and without impairment goggles, giving them a firsthand look at the serious difference impaired driving can make. This eye-opening experience helped reinforce just how dangerous it is to get behind the wheel under the influence.
We were also honored to have the Honorable Judge Hartsell join us to speak with students about the real-life consequences of impaired driving. He shared valuable insight on court costs, mandatory substance abuse classes, and the lasting impact these decisions can have—not only on the driver, but also on victims and their families.
Our students had a great time while learning an important life lesson that will stay with them far beyond prom night.
A huge thank you to our SRO, Master Deputy Henderson, SCHP Master Trooper Bennett, and Judge Hartsell for your dedication to public safety and for investing in the education of our scholars. Your commitment to our community does not go unnoticed!
