Some good news on the sustainability front!

Hopkins' Energy Action Plan aims to cut an extra 40 percent of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions by 2028 compared to business as usual, saving the community $1.9 million on energy costs in the process.

The City's 2025 year-end numbers on Hopkins' Energy Action Plan goals exceeded all three of its implementation targets for 2025:

· Electricity savings reached nearly 8 million kWh (143 percent of the implementation target and the equivalent of powering 856 Minnesota homes for a year).

· Energy efficiency participation came in at 1,059 residents and businesses (118 percent of the implementation target).

· Avoided emissions hit 2,211 metric tons of CO2e (133 percent of target) compared to the Plan's total goal of 2,008-7,015 metric tons of CO2e, the City has exceeded it's minimum impact goal well before 2028!

The City of Hopkins has a strong foundation for the longer-term 2028 goals to become a more climate-resilient community.

Ready to save on your energy bills? Conduct an energy audit and apply for rebates from the Hopkins Climate Solutions Fund to accelerate the transition to cleaner and more efficient energy: https://www.hopkinsmn.com/1149/Hopkins-Climate-Solutions-Fund .
