Official Statement – Families of Brown Bear
Brown Bear Daycare was more than just a daycare; It was a second home for our children. Kristen and Evie Brown were and are our family. As working parents, we intentionally chose Brown Bear as the place where our children would be lovingly cared for, blossom, and develop. We chose it because of Kristen. She had an inherent warmth and nurturing soul and was an exceptional caregiver and educator. Most importantly, Kristen loved our children as her own.
Kristen’s own child, of course, was her beloved daughter Evie, and the reason Kristen started Brown Bear. The bond between Kristen and Evie was undeniable. Evie was at the center of all of Kristen’s decisions. Evie was a natural leader, full of sweetness, silliness, and a lover of all things purple, rainbow, and sparkle- Evie was the heart of Brown Bear. Our children lost one of their very best friends.
Because Kristen and Evie built this community rooted in caring, kindness, and friendship, our children, and us as parents, are already supporting and helping each other through this very difficult time. We ask for privacy as we continue to prioritize our children’s mental health and well-being. Thank you to all of those who have been holding our families in their thoughts, prayers and hearts.
We are thankful to the Hopkins Police Department, our Brown Bear community, and above all, Kristen and Evie.
