From its dedication in 1914 the Library served Hopkinsville and Christian County until 1976, when the space was no longer adequate, and a new location had to be found. gust 0f 2007 a group of concerned citizens formed Hopkinsville Carnegie Library, Inc., a 501 C - 3 corporation. This Corporation now owns the Library and is restoring it as a multi purpose cultural facility. The Hopkinsville Carnegie Library of Kentucky Architecture will be a repository for papers, prints, books, drawings and photographs of Kentucky architecture, from the states inception to the present. It will also house a lecture space, a gallery space - with shows that change every two months. In September, in partnership with Grace Episcopal Church, the Library will institute an after school tutoring program. This will perhaps be the Library’s most significant form of outreach to the residents of Hopkinsville and Christian County.
