A UL-certified/listed electronic product is generally tested for risks such as electrical shock, fire, overheating, insulation failure, and other foreseeable hazards. This is especially important for devices that plug into wall power, contain batteries, generate heat, or carry significant electrical current. UL certification does not mean the product is guaranteed never to fail, nor does it necessarily mean it is higher-performing than a non-UL product. It primarily addresses compliance with applicable safety requirements.
