Hopland Fire Protection District

Hopland Fire Protection District is a rural fire agency located in Hopland California at the south end of Mendocino County along the Russian River. Hopland Fire is considered a volunteer agency supplemented by paid staff. The Hopland Fire Protection District covers 110 square miles of land, 17 miles of US Highway 101, 9 miles of CA Highway 175 and many more miles of rural and urban roads. Due to t

he wide variety of topographical attributes of the district's area, Hopland Fire responds to a wide variety of emergency calls. The types of emergency responses can be anything from traffic collisions to swift water rescue, medical emergencies to wildland fires or high angle cliff rescue to river flooding emergencies. Hopland Fire serves several large businesses such as Fetzer Vineyards, Retech Systems LLC, Sho-Ka-Wah Casino, and Real Goods Solar Living which provides many different challenges to the response area such as large storage tanks, flammable metals, heavy machinery, high voltage battery storage, hazardous materials and large gatherings of people. Due to these many hazards, the Hopland Fire volunteers have to go above and beyond to have the training and knowledge on how to handle the many different scenarios that could be presented. Volunteers attend weekly trainings and give up countless hours away from their families to attend trainings in and out of town, in order to better serve the residences of the Hopland Fire Protection District.
