Some of our HMS learners had a fun day at the VCSU math competition. We had 50 students from HMS compete and over 300 learners competing in the 7-9th grade competition. Not only did they compete in math, but we are sure a few also competed on how much they could eat at lunch.😂
Place winners were:

Hailey Mart - 9th

Happy Assistant Principals week to our amazing Mr. Josh Rudie and Mrs. Missy Kremer.

Mr. Rudie's leadership and ex*****on are the reason our Heritage athletics and activities run the way it does. His caring approach and ability to connect with all learners truly embodies what HMS represents.

Mrs. Kremer's deep knowledge of instructional practices and teaching pedagogy is a major factor for the deep learning that is happening every day at Heritage Middle School. Her ability to problem solve, plan, and communicate helps make our school run at such a high level.

Heritage Middle School’s expansion is going well! Our team took a walkthrough of the new and upcoming CTE, Gym, Music and Team Center on the west side. Excited to be able to continue to have the space to offer an exceptional educational experience for our community!

🎉HMS Activity Night/Dance! 🎉
Heritage will be hosting an Activities Night on March 27th from 6-9pm at Heritage Middle School. Here is some important information for you and your learner to have discussions about at home before attending this event.
• Our theme this year is Glow Zone; white or bright colored clothing is encouraged but not required.
o Tickets will not be for purchase at the dance; tickets need to be purchased ahead of time.
• During Activities Night, we will have games with prizes, a DJ, a photobooth, and small snacks and drinks for cash purchase. Heritage Middle School learners are the only invites allowed for this event.
• Once a learner has arrived, if they choose to leave, they cannot return to the building.
• School rules will be enforced heavily for this event. If there are any behavioral concerns with a child during the Activities Night, parents will be called and required to pick up your learner promptly.
• Pick up at the end of the event will be prompt at 9pm.
Please take the time to discuss these expectations with your learner at home before attending this event. Thank you for your continued support at home and helping our learners be the best they can be!

The deadline is Friday, March 27th.
You can purchase your yearbook in one of two ways:

2. Send a $25.00 check to the school office that is made out to HMS Yearbook in an envelope/attached to a note with your learner’s name, grade, and team. (Cash is okay too)

This spring, our 7th grade learners demonstrated their Communication standard by participating in a mock trial. Learners worked in groups and were assigned to either the defense or prosecution team based on the characters and events from the novel "Holes". Each group prepared opening statements, conducted witness interviews, and developed closing arguments. They then presented their case in front of a jury made up of their classmates, who carefully considered the evidence and voted on a verdict based on the information presented.

HMS did its first ever all grade school trip to Feed My Starving Children! Our learners were absolutely fantastic.
Please take a moment to thank your child for being so trustworthy and responsible. As a team, we created enough boxes to feed 112 children each for an entire year.

Learners at Heritage Middle School had the opportunity this week to use the wheelchairs from Hope Inc. to play a game of wheelchair soccer. This game provided students with the opportunity to learn how people around the world can play adapted forms of popular games. Our Hawks were excited to learn about how to move in wheelchairs and embraced the challenge of playing this adaptive sport!
