The Town of Horizon City is working closely with state and local health officials to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Effective Friday, October 30, 2020, City Hall and Courts will be open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (closed for lunch from 11:45 am to 1:00 pm), and will be closed to the public on Fridays. Some administrative staff will be working remotely throughout the week and all administrative staff will only be available via telephone and email on Fridays. Our Police Department remains open 24/7. For more information related to City services during this emergency, please call as at (915) 852-1046. Thank you.

Special announcement from the Town of Horizon. Below is the statement from Mayor Mendoza:

Monday afternoon, Horizon City Mayor Ruben Mendoza issued a declaration of local disaster. Mendoza stated, "In light of the recent decision by the White House to recommend limiting the number of individuals to ten people in groups and with continued uncertainty, I have signed the emergency declaration."

Though there are no known reports of Coronavirus in Horizon City at this moment, the declaration allows Mayor Mendoza to enact other emergency actions in the event the community spread occurs here.

As of Monday (3/16) the only service impacted is the Horizon City Municipal Court. The Judge has cancelled court hearings for March, and future courts may be canceled upon further evaluation.

All other Horizon City municipal services will remain operational as usual, unless the circumstances change.

Mayor Mendoza added, "We urge our residents to remain aware of the current circumstances - locally and nationally - via the media and internet for future updates.

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Horizon City Municipal Court hearings for the following dates; MARCH 19, 2020 and MARCH 25, 2020 have been cancelled. All hearings will be rescheduled for a later date. Once a new hearing is set you will be notified by mail.

The Horizon City Municipal Court encourages persons with COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms, a fever, or who are coughing or sneezing, to contact the court before appearing.
