Why We're Raising Funds
The Hornsby Fire Department is proud to serve our community 24
hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Whether it's a structure
fire, vehicle accident, medical emergency, storm damage, or rescue
call, our firefighters stand ready to respond whenever help is needed.
The funds raised from our Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser will be used to
purchase, maintain, and replace critical firefighting and rescue
equipment. These tools are essential to protecting both our firefighters
and the citizens we serve.
Many people are surprised to learn the cost of emergency equipment.
For example, for Rescue: an Amkus CT716 battery rescue cutter
costs approximately $15,767, while a matching Amkus battery
spreader costs approximately $16,541 and that is not including the
Ram or Combination Tool or Battery Charging Station. Just 500 feet
of fire hose costs approximately $1,250. Even basic equipment adds
up quickly, with fire axes costing around $75 each, pike poles around
$125 each, firefighting gloves approximately $75 per pair, boots around
$500 per set, and helmets approximately $600 each.
This is just a small list of items needed to operate a Fire Department.
These are not optional items for our firefighters. They are the tools
firefighters depend on to force entry into burning buildings, rescue
victims trapped in vehicles, protect themselves in hazardous
environments, and safely perform their duties during emergencies.
Having the proper tools, equipment and training will allow us to help
keep Hornsby Tn and Hardeman County safer.
While we actively pursue grant opportunities whenever possible, grants
are highly competitive and are never guaranteed. Even when a grant is
awarded, it often covers only a portion of the total cost. The remaining
amount must be funded through local fundraising efforts and the
generous support of our community.
Every ticket purchased, every donation made, and every share of this
event helps us move closer to obtaining and maintaining the equipment necessary to serve Hornsby and the surrounding area. Your support
directly impacts our ability to respond when seconds matter most.
Thank you for supporting the Hornsby Fire Department and helping us
continue our mission of protecting lives and property. We are honored to
serve this community and grateful for the support you provide.
