Horsham Fire Company Personnel participated in many events this past week from community fire safety training, touch-a-truck event, various appreciation events, and planning meetings. Volunteer FF Ava Pasquarello has completed the first major step in basic Firefighter training and is now Certified at the FF1 Level. Also, Assistant Chief Cole and Chief Engineer Schwartz got to go for a ride in CH-47! A pretty good week to be a part of Horsham Fire Company (in my biased opinion).

Staff spent time with the students at Yuong Sang Church School this week to go over fire safety and give a tour of the fire apparatus and Ambulance. Medic 352-4 took a field trip too, who would have thought it was so difficult to get TIRES?!? Thanks to Sadsburyville Fire Company for housing us for a bit. (You'll have to look at a map if you want to know.)

Just like last week, training....training....and more training. Members and Staff participated in training right here in Horsham, all the way out to Indianapolis and some places in between. We're blessed to have so many opportunities to sharpen our skills and learn new ones. Also, enjoy the picture of what happens with the Assistant Chief's coffee mug gets moved and he has a meltdown.

Lots and lots of training this week. We get a few opportunities a year to use acquired structures before they are demolished. This training is essential and adds invaluable experience to our training program. Additionally, newer staff are learning pumping skills and others attended conferences learning advanced concepts in leadership and management. And yes, we managed to carve out a few minutes for a Rita's visit.

Fire department personnel will be conducting multi-week non-live fire training exercises at the former Shelby apartments, 100 Easton Road, aimed at enhancing, refreshing, and training members in essential fire and rescue operations within a structural environment. Supported by Larry Burns and the Department of Economic Development, this initiative utilizes the vacant structure for realistic training scenarios.

We are thankful for the support of our Township partners who play a crucial role in the readiness of all of our staff.

A busy week! (They all are, really) On March 5th, Horsham Fire Company was dispatched almost simultaneously to 2 building fires on opposite sides of the Township. Fire and EMS resources were able to respond to both incidents although an adequate response would have been impossible without our mutual aid partners. I'm afraid to name them, for fear I'll forget one! Just imagine, every other Fire Department in the surrounding area was there and helped out, we surely appreciate it. Also, you'll see this heads-up play by a trash truck driver who noticed smoke in the truck and had the presence of mind to find an open parking lot to dump the burning trash and save the truck. The fire was started by improper disposal of a lithium ion battery but thankfully extinguished quickly with no damage to anything. The lot was then professionally cleaned up and restored to its normal condition. Please remember to follow proper battery disposal guidelines to prevent these kinds of issues!
