Glacial Hills Food Center Glacial Hills Food Center serves as an incubator kitchen for food products as well as a location for food preparation and preservation workshops.

The kitchen is a Glacial Hills RC&D project. The Glacial Hills Food Center, in Horton, serves as a shared-use kitchen to assist residents in NE Kansas in developing, producing and marketing their food product. Home canners can also utilize the kitchen to preserve their garden's bounty. To reduce the risk of foodborne illness, the Kansas Department of Agriculture requires foods intended for human c

onsumption be prepared or processed in an inspected kitchen. Individuals wishing to start a food business can view a kitchen as a daunting expense. Therefore, the Glacial Hills Food Center is available to rent as an incubator kitchen. Assistance may also available to market your value-added product. Additionally, the Northeast Kansas Enterprise Facilitation offers services to help those individuals launch their business. Another aspect of the Glacial Hills Food Center is to assist community members in preparing and preserving locally produced fruits and vegetables or other specialty crops. Classes will be held at GHFC to teach community members about these methods. The kitchen will also be available to rent for those wishing to preserve food for their own personal use.
