Congratulations to Ray Wahwasuck, KTIK Water Plant Manager for being recognized as a Hometown Hero! 🎉
“Today, we honor someone who truly embodies the spirit of our community—Ray Wahwasuck of the Kickapoo Tribe, a man proudly recognized as a hometown hero.
Ray first served his country as a veteran, demonstrating dedication and courage in service to others. When he returned home, that same sense of duty remained. He continued serving in a different way—building a life grounded in family, hard work, and community.
Ray has raised several children and has also stepped up to raise his grandchildren, passing along the values of responsibility, kindness, and perseverance. His family reflects the strength of character he shows each and every day.
He is also deeply committed to his work operating and maintaining the water plant for the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas. It’s a demanding role that requires long hours and constant attention, day and night. While many of us rarely think about where our clean water comes from, Ray works behind the scenes to ensure the community has safe, reliable water every day.
That dedication has not gone unnoticed. In 2025, Ray was nominated for Water Operator of the Year—an honor that highlights his professionalism, commitment, and pride in serving others.
True heroes aren’t always in the spotlight. Often, they are the ones quietly supporting their families and working tirelessly to strengthen their communities. Ray Wahwasuck is one of those people.
For his service to his country, his devotion to his family, and his commitment to his community, Jimmy Ellis is proud to nominate—and work beside—Ray Wahwasuck as a true Hometown Hero.
Proudly partnered with Lentz Express Catering and Wilson Tire — serving our communities together”.
