National Police Week 2026

This week, we honor the men and women who wear the badge and holding the line with courage, integrity, and unwavering dedication.

To those with the Hot Springs Police Department: your commitment to service, your vigilance, and your compassion for this community define what it means to protect and serve.

We also pause to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Their legacy lives on in every call answered, every life protected, and every act of service performed in their memory.

Thank you for your courage, your professionalism, and your heart for those in need.

The South Dakota Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics made its way through Hot Springs this morning!

We were proud to see the amazing support from our community, the students and staff at Hot Springs Schools 23-2 as well as our Officers including Chief Norton, Officer Deneke, Officer Maciejewski, Officer Maxfield, Reserve Officer Shively, and SDGF&P Conservation Officer Supervisor Dekker.

Thank you to everyone who participated and for supporting an incredible cause!

Big thank you to Reserve and Previous Captain Phil Shively for teaching an amazing De-Escalation training for all City Employees today.

Turns out De-escalation isn’t just for cops… it’s also for council meetings, Monday at the front desk, and the occasional “When are you going to fill this pothole?” 🚧

Come join us on May 17th!! 1:00 PM-4:00 PM!!

Come join us on May 17th!!
1:00 PM-4:00 PM!!

The Fall River County Sheriff's Office is excited to announce we are hosting the "Badges & Bobbers" free fishing event again this year!

This is a great opportunity for kids to meet officers from the Sheriff's Office, Hot Springs Police Department and South Dakota Game Fish & Parks

We are excited to share our love for fishing with the kids in our communities, so all kids are welcome to bring their own fishing pole and bait. For those who don’t have them, a few loaner poles and bait will be available.

Hot Dogs and Drinks provided for participants.

Because this event is held during South Dakota's Free Fishing Weekend (May 15-17, 2026) Fishing Licenses are not required.

A registration table will be set up at Cold Brook during the event or feel free to email the Sheriff's Office at [email protected] or stop in at the office for early registration.

Kids are welcome to arrive at anytime and do not have to remain at the lake the full 3 hours to win a raffle prize.

For more information or if you would like to donate to the Badges & Bobbers Event contact:

Rachel - Fall River Sheriff's office 605-745-4444 or [email protected]

Melissa - [email protected] or message this page.
