At 2 pm this afternoon Roscommon Township was toned out for a fully involved structure fire. While in route we were notified that the fire spread to a nearby vehicle and on to the house. Mutual aid was immediately requested from both Denton Township Fire/Rescue and Lake Township fire department. With a quick response we extinguished the fire in the garage and made a knock down on the house. After an extensive overhaul we were able to remove a good portion of personal belongings unharmed. while we faced many challenges like a large amount of fire and a daily high of 80+ degrees all the firefighters never quit. I cannot begin to express how proud I am to work with some of the most dedicated and hard working first responders in our community. I would like to thank all involved as we could not do this on our own.

Don't be alarmed to see fire trucks going slow through town today , we are escorting the WALK FOR THE RED ORGANIZATION as they walk to raise money for firefighters battling cancer. Attached in the photos is a code to follow along on their journey on life app 360 today around Houghton Lake and tomorrow around Higgins Lake.

Tuesday night at training while dealing with the heat we decided to pump some water with two engines running two different scenarios. Our firefighters are hard working and always willing to improve their skills to better serve this community whatever the temperature may be. We even had a few cool off in there own way.

Smoky skies are sticking around today!
Air quality has reached unhealthy levels in some areas due to wildfire smoke. If you have asthma, COPD, heart disease, or other breathing concerns, consider limiting time outdoors until conditions improve.
Keep those windows closed, stay hydrated, and don't forget to check in on friends, family, and neighbors who may be more affected by the smoke.

Don't be alarmed if you see our trucks out tonight. We are doing roads and on scene reports. This training is done to familiarize ourselves with different areas and buildings in our Township.
