We’re just days away from our first-ever World Fish Migration Day celebration in Houlton, ME on May 2nd 🐟

Join us for a fun-filled, community-wide event hosted by the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown Alliance. There’s something for everyone — from the annual Meduxnekeag Canoe Race, 5K race, and opportunities to learn how our lives, cultures, and histories are connected to the rivers and fish around us.

The forecast may be a bit variable, but it’s shaping up to be a great day to be outside. Fish migrate rain or shine—and so will we! Be sure to dress for the conditions and come ready for a great day outdoors.

We can’t wait to see you there!

Day 32. They’ve accepted me as one of their own.

Awkward. Like many reptiles, turtles regulate their body temperature by basking in the sun, often on rocks, logs, or other warm surfaces where they can absorb heat. This behavior not only helps them stay active and digest food efficiently but also supports their immune system. Lizards, alligators, and snakes follow a similar routine, emerging in the morning to soak up the sun’s warmth before starting their day of hunting, exploring, or lounging.
