During my last DOTD post, I had several questions which I was able to get answers for. Please see DOTD responses below…

🔴What is the status of the traffic light at Company Canal bridge?
· Contractor has completed install and has requested inspection of the installed signal, with turn on expected next week.

🔴There have been some drainage concerns (water pooling on road) on LA 24, particularly just south of South Terrebonne High near Lecompte St. Will there be any drainage work done with this patching project?
· The work remaining on that area of LA 24 is striping and a high friction surface treatment on the Bourg Larose Hwy. There is no drainage work here included in this pavement project.
· I will get with our design group to see if there is any drainage type of funding available to do anything here.

🔴What is timeline to begin work on Prospect Blvd (LA 3087)?
· Project H.015816 from the Lift Bridge to the Overpass is scheduled to bid in July 2026.

🔴What is timeline to begin work on LA 56?
· Project H.015822 from Presque Isle to LA 58 (Marty J’s) is scheduled to bid in August 2026.

Today, I voted against the Congressional redistricting map.

In 2024, I voted against the previous map. It stripped Terrebonne Parish away from both our prior Congressmen Scalise and Graves, and it divided our Bayou Region by separating us from Lafourche.

The new map slices Terrebonne Parish into two separate districts and once again divides our Bayou Region. Parts of Terrebonne will be in their third different Congressional district in six years.

The residents of Terrebonne Parish deserve to have stable representation in Congress. This map only works toward diminishing our voice as one cohesive Houma/Thibodaux region as we fight for Federal resources.

It was great to see our friend Senator John Kennedy at the Louisiana House of Representatives.

I took the opportunity to personally thank him for his help with the LiftOff Louisiana program at the Houma-Terrebonne Airport Commission.

🚧🚧DOTD UPDATE

I spoke with DOTD this morning about a couple of issues around the district.

Dularge Overpass: Yesterday, an electronic component shorted out. Electricians are working on it today, and they're optimistic the bridge should reopen sometime today.

LA24 Patching in Bourg: I have noted the large potholes that are still on both sides of the Company Canal bridge. This project is still ongoing through the summer, and there will be attention to ensure these are addressed.

Watching WVUE FOX 8 tonight, and they highlighted my HB 121 recently signed by Governor Jeff Landry. I am proud to fight for our seafood industry.
