Congratulations to Blaise Pellegrin, Terrebonne Parish School District’s Supervisor of Special Education, on receiving the State Bernard R. Wagner Leadership Award from the American Association for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD)!
In just three years in this role, Blaise has helped transform special education services across Terrebonne Parish through collaboration, innovation, and a strong commitment to inclusion.
His leadership has helped create programs such as the Students Transitioning to Employment Pathways (STEP) Program, developed in partnership with Terrebonne ARC, which gives students with disabilities hands-on work experience at TARC social enterprises including Cajun Confections retail bakery and Cedar Chest Boutique thrift stores.
He has also led expansion through community employment internships, strengthened family and community resources, created the Special Education Advisory Committee, enhanced inclusive events and Special Olympics opportunities, and helped improve individualized services across the district.
Blaise continues to connect schools, families, community organizations, and employers to create meaningful opportunities for students with disabilities—both in the classroom and beyond.
