With the additional revenues this bill would provide, our state can construct needed coastal protection projects to defend our working coast and protect our nation’s energy infrastructure. - Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority Chairman Chip Kline

The restoration and protection of Louisiana’s coast has proudly been a unifying issue for our state. Governors, state legislators, local leaders, and members of our congressional delegation from both parties

"The Morganza to the Gulf levee protection project is an investment that the citizens of my community have made to build resiliency to the climate crisis. Is there a cost? Yes, but the cost of NOT building, and preparing are much greater. I encourage Congress to step up and invest in building the Morganza to the Gulf levee protection project, which in the end will save taxpayers billions of dollars." MAC President Jay Walker

We Are Your Voice

The Morganza Action Coalition is the voice for Terrebonne and Lafourche Parish residents in our push for flood protection. MAC supports the efforts of the Terrebonne, North Lafourche and South Lafourche Levee Districts to build and maintain local levees and floodgates, and advocates for federal support of the critical Morganza-to-the Gulf Hurricane Protection System to protect 200,000 residents, homes and businesses in our community.

In 2006, Terrebonne Parish community leaders formed the Morganza Action Coalition (MAC) to promote federal authorization and funding of the Morganza to the Gulf Hurricane Protection System. MAC founders knew that the 98-mile lock, levee and floodgate system was critical to the sustainability and growth of Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes

Since then, MAC has aggressively promoted the Morganza system as critical protection for our valuable coastal community and has pushed for authorization and funding of the project in Washington, DC and Baton Rouge. MAC expanded its work in 2016 to also advocate for levee projects in our neighboring communities of Lafourche Parish.

Today, MAC is a 501(c)(4) organization supporting the efforts of the North Lafourche Conservation, Levee and Drainage District; the South Lafourche Levee District and the Terrebonne Levee and Conservation District. With the support of our members, MAC is the voice for our local community as we push for Terrebonne and Lafourche flood protection that is critical to our survival and that will help us continue to feed and fuel this entire nation.
