Understanding the difference between Property Maintenance Code (PMC) violations, Nuisance Abatement (NA) violations, and Condemnations can be confusing. So we're sharing some information to help break it all down.

Learn what each type of violation means, common issues that can lead to a violation, how to report concerns, and what happens after a report is submitted. Whether it's overgrown grass, unsafe structures, or rotten, cracked, or falling exterior walls, knowing the right process helps us address concerns more efficiently and keep our community safe and beautiful.

Terrebonne Parish has achieved a Building Code Effectiveness Grading Schedule (BCEGS) Class 4 rating for both commercial and residential construction, marking a significant improvement from its previous 2021 rating.

This achievement reflects our continued commitment to strong building code adoption, thorough plan reviews, quality field inspections, and effective enforcement practices that help ensure safer, more resilient construction throughout the parish.

The BCEGS program evaluates the effectiveness of local building code enforcement agencies and provides valuable information used in insurance underwriting and rating decisions. Communities with stronger BCEGS ratings demonstrate a reduced risk of property damage through well-enforced building standards, which can contribute to more favorable insurance outcomes.

This improved rating highlights Terrebonne Parish's ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, promote compliance with modern construction codes, and strengthen our community's long-term resilience.

Congratulations to Lisa Ledet and Carl "Bo" Dupre, whose hard work and dedication helped make this achievement possible!
