Below, are a few reminders in the event you receive a similar call.

If you have any questions about the legitimacy of a call, or if you believe you've been targeted by this scam, contact the Middle Township Police Department directly at 609-465-8700.

Cyclosporiasis is an illness you get from the parasite Cyclospora cayetanensis (C. cayetanensis or Cyclospora). It usually spreads from contaminated water or food. Symptoms usually start within a week of ingesting the parasite. The main symptom is watery diarrhea. But it can also cause other stomach problems.

A Cyclospora infection sometimes goes away on its own. But if you don’t treat it, your symptoms may last for a month or longer. This puts you at risk of severe dehydration and other complications. It’s a good idea to check with a healthcare provider to see if you need antibiotics.

Go to the nearest emergency room if you have a weakened immune system and have any symptoms of infectious disease. You should also go if you have signs of severe dehydration, including confusion, dizziness, dark-colored p*e or you’re not p*eing as much as you should.

You can help avoid cyclosporiasis by:
• Cooking fruits and vegetables to at least 158 degrees Fahrenheit (70 degrees Celsius)
• Thoroughly washing or p*eling fresh fruits and veggies before eating them
• Washing your hands with soap and water after using the bathroom and before, during and after food prep
• Washing all food prep surfaces, dishes and utensils with hot water and soap after use
• Avoid swimming if you have diarrhea, and waiting at least two weeks to swim after it goes away
• Avoid drinking untreated water or using it to cook

Dizzy, overheated, not feeling right? Here’s how to know where to go.

Not all heat-related illnesses are the same — and knowing where to get care matters.

Urgent care can help with:
⚠️ Mild dehydration
⚠️ Heat cramps
⚠️ Fatigue, dizziness, or nausea
⚠️ Headaches from heat exposure

Go to the ER or call 911 if you notice:
🚨 Confusion or trouble thinking clearly
🚨 Fainting or loss of consciousness
🚨 A body temperature that feels very high
🚨 Hot, dry skin or stopped sweating
🚨 Seizures or severe symptoms

Heat-related illness can worsen quickly, especially during extreme temperatures like we’re seeing this week.

If something feels off, don’t ignore it — it’s always okay to get checked. You can learn more about the signs of heat stroke on our blog: https://bit.ly/4eEg4nL

When in doubt, call 9-1-1 or visit your nearest emergency room.

13 years ago today, 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the community of Yarnell during the Yarnell Hill Fire.

Their courage, selflessness, and commitment to serving others continue to inspire firefighters across Arizona and beyond. While the years pass, their legacy never fades.

Today, we pause to remember their lives, honor their sacrifice, and keep their families, friends, and fellow firefighters in our thoughts.

Gone, but never forgotten.

It is with great disappointment to our members that, for the first time in 10 years, we will have to cancel our annual hoagie sale. Without going into detail, we have decided that due to a local announcement it wouldn’t have been profitable. We thank those who support us daily and hopefully next year we can try again.
