You may have noticed, we did not activate the outdoor warning sirens this morning, March18, 2026. As it is below freezing, we chose to do a quiet test. Everything worked. The sirens are scheduled to automatically activate the fourth Friday of each month at noon, weather permitting.

Thank you. Stay safe!

Today Station 100 received a call from the City of WCH Water plant that upon changing out chlorine tanks, one tank was found leaking.
Station 100 responding and put out an all-call for Hazmat Technicians to come to the scene. This resulted in assistance from all 5 surrounding county fire departments. Fortunately upon arrival, there were found to be no injuries. Firefighters suited up in Level A protection to tend to the leak, which was quickly fixed, and the area was ventilated until no chlorine was found to be present.
Hazmat response takes a lot of manpower. You have 2 to enter, 2 to back them up, and at least 2 to decon, and an EMS team to take vitals, in addition to other duties & responsibilities at the scene. Thank you to the following departments that assisted in a smooth response:

Station 100 WCH Fire/Rescue
Station 200 Wayne Twp Fire
Station 300 Concord Greene Fire
Station 400 BPM Joint Fire
Station 500 Jefferson Twp Fire
Station 600 Pic-A-Fay Joint Fire
Station 700 Fay Co EMS District

Never take for granted the “Village” that’s always there to help! It truly takes us all.
