⚠️🔥🔥⚠️ INCREASED FIRE DANGER TODAY (WEDNESDAY) FROM 10AM UNTIL 6PM...

The combination of sustained winds 15 to 20 mph and gusts 25 to 35 mph with low Relative Humidity values between 20 to 30% will result in the potential for adverse fire behavior Wednesday.

Residents are urged to exercise caution handling any potential ignition source...including machinery... cigarettes...and matches. Be sure to properly discard all smoking materials. Any dry grasses and tree litter that ignite will have the potential to spread quickly.

Amelia volunteer fire companies responded to a structure fire in Company 4’s first due area last night. We are grateful for all who assisted including our mutual aid partners from Powhatan who responded to the incident and then went the extra mile in the cold weather to help repack equipment at our station afterward.

Meet Brush 4! Many of Amelia’s 911 calls each year are triggered by outside fires or brush fires, which can be difficult to access with large apparatus. Our brush truck is often our first choice for off-road fires, and it also carries rakes, saws, and other tools useful in variety of hazardous conditions.

Meet Tanker 4! While our engines carry enough water to put out some fires, many larger incidents and larger fires require more water than what an engine holds. Tanker 4 is one of several tankers in the county that can bring extra water to scenes and can shuttle water from our dry hydrant sites to fire engines on scenes that need to be refilled.
